The minion® from autosen is a small, self-sufficient IoT sensor for machine monitoring, which was brought from the first prototype to series production in a very short time thanks to precise prototyping, express injection molding, and close cooperation with 1zu1scale - demonstrating how smart sensor technology and efficient manufacturing processes create real market advantages.

A modular Solution

The minion® from autosen is a compact, wireless IoT sensor for machine monitoring that measures vibration and temperature data and sends it directly to the cloud. For the robust, modular housing with eight precision-manufactured plastic parts, autosen relied on 3D-printed prototypes and then express injection molding with aluminum tools from 1zu1scale to quickly reach series production readiness. This collaboration reduced the development and time to market to around two years—significantly faster than usual.

The minion® is a compact, wireless IoT sensor for autonomous machine monitoring that detects vibrations, shocks, and temperature and transmits the data directly to the cloud.

1zu1scale manufactured eight high-quality plastic parts for the waterproof and dustproof housing and, thanks to express injection molding with aluminum tools, made a decisive contribution to getting the product ready for series production quickly.

The minion® measures only about five centimeters and consists of three main modular parts: sensor, battery, and mobile communications gateway.

It monitors the condition of machines, detects imbalances, shocks, bearing changes, and also measures surface temperature.

The time from development to series production was reduced to around two years – faster than comparable projects.

In addition to the tight schedule, other important requirements included high precision of the housing components, different surface structures without visible injection points, and the product's suitability for outdoor use.

First, prototype housings were produced using 3D printing to test initial samples before injection molding for series production began.

Thanks to early involvement, short communication channels, and the technical expertise of 1zu1scale, design optimizations, high manufacturing quality, and rapid series production were achieved.
