Digital Accessibility

The Web Without Borders – Accessible to Everyone

1zu1scale GmbH is continuously working to ensure that its websites are accessible in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.1zu1.eu.

Non-Accessible Content

The website is currently partially compliant with the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Conformity Level AA and the European standard EN 301 549. An automated accessibility audit identified specific areas that do not yet fully meet digital accessibility requirements. Remedial measures to address these issues are already planned or currently being implemented.

a. Non-compliance with accessibility requirements

The following barriers currently exist on individual pages of the website:

  • Insufficient color contrast between text and background areas can limit readability for people with visual impairments (WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.3 “Contrast (Minimum)”).
  • Alternative text for images and graphics is sometimes not optimally formulated or contains overly detailed descriptions, which can make use with screen readers more difficult (WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.1.1 “Non-Text Content”).
  • Heading structures are not consistently logical across individual pages. In some cases, heading levels are skipped, which can impair navigation for users of assistive technologies (WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria 1.3.1, 2.4.1, and 2.4.6).
  • Redundant or insufficiently distinguishable links can make navigation with screen readers or a keyboard difficult (WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.4.4 “Link Purpose in Context”).
  • In some cases, identical link titles or labels appear multiple times, making the purpose of a link not always clearly recognizable.

We are continuously working to identify and gradually eliminate these barriers.

b. Undue burden

Videos embedded on the website are provided via external platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. Audio descriptions are currently not available for some older video content. As a result, WCAG Success Criterion 1.2.5 “Audio Description (Recorded)” is not fully met.

Retroactively creating audio descriptions for all existing videos would currently represent a disproportionate organizational and financial burden. New video content is published, where possible, in accordance with accessibility requirements.

c. The content does not fall within the scope of applicable legal regulations

Some older PDF, Office, and archive documents were created before the current accessibility requirements came into effect and are not fully accessible. For example, structural markup (tags) is sometimes missing, which may limit their use with screen readers.

If you require a specific document in an accessible format, please contact us. We will make every effort to provide you with the content in a suitable format.

Live video broadcasts are currently not subtitled. Under applicable legal provisions, this content does not fall within the mandatory scope of digital accessibility.

In addition, third-party content over which we have no control (e.g., external studies, presentations, or embedded content) may be exempt from accessibility requirements. No statement can be made regarding the compliance of this content with applicable standards.

Preparation of the Accessibility Statement

This statement was prepared based on a self-assessment. Automated testing tools were used to assess digital accessibility, including the Accessibility Checker from Friendly Captcha, as well as additional technical tests based on the criteria of WCAG 2.1 and EN 301 549. Automated tests cannot detect all barriers; therefore, the website is continuously reviewed and improved.

Status of the statement: June 2026.

If the complaint is justified, the Social Ministry Service must issue recommendations for action to the federal government or the relevant legal entities and propose measures to remedy the existing deficiencies.
