Dyeing without loss of Size
Colorful variety for 3D printed parts
This is ensured by state-of-the-art machinery combined with pioneering technology and decades of experience. 3D printing builds high-quality plastic parts layer by layer from polyamide powder. Depending on the choice of material, they are stable or elastic, flame-resistant, chemically resistant, or food-safe. In other words, 3D-printed parts are suitable for numerous practical applications and can be found in many products today. The only downside is that they are all colorless.
Black and white becomes colorful
1zu1scale brings color to life with its innovative hot pressure impregnation process. This transforms white or black raw components into custom-colored elements – completely colorfast, scratch-resistant, and without any loss of dimensions. We work with two strong partners for all coloring processes: Thies for black components and DyeMansion for colored components. This ensures that every component, regardless of color, is dyed evenly, to a high standard, and with long-lasting results.
The process can be used for individual items as well as large quantities via P500 or filigree structures using FDR. Our partners' technologies know no geometric limits: they dye every detail, no matter how small, under pressure and at high temperatures, ensuring a seamless and even finish. More than 400 colors are possible, from the standard range to RAL and Pantone colors to custom mixtures. Thanks to automation, the whole process is quick: the turnaround time is extended by just one day.
Smooth and even
This type of color variety opens new doors for the series and, in combination with the chemical smoothing process from 1zu1scale, even allows for visible components. These are visually appealing and are also skin-friendly, light-resistant, and heat-resistant. Unlike with conventional paint application, all dimensions remain constant. This pays off especially with threads, channels, chambers, or cuts. Another major added value: since the color penetrates the component, scratches on the surface have no effect. Compaction blasting prior to coloring also gives the components a silky matt surface. This gives them a genuine series character in terms of both appearance and feel.
Complete Solution
From data transfer to consulting and design optimization to manufacturing and finishing, 1zu1scale covers the entire value chain in 3D printing. Since processes such as chemical smoothing and dyeing are already used during product development – always in collaboration with our partners Thies and DyeMansion – the components meet functional, visual, and haptic series criteria at every stage. This facilitates testing processes, strengthens quality assurance, and accelerates the market launch of new products.
